Toronto Videographer Services

So you’ve decided on engaging the services of a Toronto videographer? Where to start? If you’ve decided to hire a professional, you’ve already made some wise decisions. The words of a flawed script can be easily rewritten. Sloppy editing can be reworked, but that one-time moment you have to catch the elephant juggling all the plates in the right exposure without shaky tourist-style camera movements is precious. Getting the shoot wrong means a re-do that can be costly and sometimes impossible to recapture. Videography is an art, but it’s important to ask the right questions to determine the skill level of any videographer before firing him for his video services.

Top Questions to Ask Before You Hire a Toronto Videographer

A Toronto videographer may be an artist, but it’s important to gauge his skill level by asking the right questions and, more importantly, getting the right answers when it comes to using their video services.

  • What’s your Process? The videographer might be Steven Spielberg, but organizing capabilities, focus on certain steps in the production process, the ability to grasp your vision – let’s call this personality – being too driven or too lacks, is important. Just like with the Three Bears, it needs to be a perfect fit for you.

  • What Projects have Your Successfully Delivered Before? Here’s where you get to see their previous work and decide if the style, quality, caliber and professionalism is what you’d hoped for. If you’re fortunate enough to have been referred, then you’re one step ahead.

  • How Much Will This Cost? Any videographer worth his salt can weigh your project needs, factor in equipment, location, development time, shooting schedule and editing requirements and give you not only one quote, but a scalable range based on your budgetary restrictions – yes, is that the $1,500, the $15,000 or the $150,000 plan? Note: Don’t dive for the cheapest quote. A $600 per day professional may prove to be less expensive than a $400 per day body.

Then most importantly, remember to ask what do you need from me? (besides money, of course!) In a face-to-face meeting (or at least an extensive conference call, should location be an issue), you should be able to convey your ideas, let the videographer guide you through a development process and have the chemistry of collaboration ignite creativity.
