Videographers in Toronto

When you decide to hire a Toronto videographer for your videography project, it could be challenging to figure out where to start. If you’ve settled on a professional, you’ve already made a wise decision. The words of a flawed script can be easily corrected. Sloppy editing can be reworked, but that one-time moment you have to catch all the horses leaving the barn in just the right exposure and without having it look like Uncle Jerry’s holiday footage is precious. Getting the shoot wrong means a re-do that can be expensive or even impossible to recapture. Videography is creative, but it’s important to ask the right questions to determine the skill level of any videographer even in a large center like Toronto before hiring him for his video services.

How to Find the Right Videographer in Toronto

Videography is an art and the yellow pages are a mine field, so it’s important to gauge the skill level of any Toronto videographer by asking the right questions and, more importantly, getting the right answers when it comes to using video services.

  1. What is your Process? The videographer might be David Cameron, but organizing capabilities, focus on certain steps in the production process, the ability to grasp your vision – let’s call this personality – being too driven or too layback, is important. Just like the Three Bears found out, the fit needs to be perfect for you.

  2. What Projects have Been Successfully Delivered Before? Here’s where you get to see previous work and decide if their style, quality, caliber and professionalism is what you’re looking for. If you’re fortunate enough to have been referred, then you’re just one step ahead.

  3. How Much is this Going to Cost Me? Any videographer worth his salt can weigh your project needs, factor in equipment, location, development time, shooting schedule and editing requirements and give you not only one quote, but a scalable range suited to your budget. Will that be the $1,500, the $15,000 or the $150,000 plan? Please note: Not to lunge at the cheapest quote. A $500 per day professional may end up being less expensive than a $350 per day body.

Then most importantly, remember to ask what are you going to need from me? (besides money, of course!) In a face-to-face meeting (or at least an extensive conference call, should location be an issue), you’ll be able to pass on your ideas for the videography project, let your Toronto videographer assist you through the development process and have the chemistry of your collaboration spark all the creativity necessary.
